Your journey begins with a transfer to the Kilimanjaro area for a guided day hike experience, followed by a visit to Materuni, a beautiful village on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. Tanzania’s official tourism content highlights day hikes with sweeping views as part of the Kilimanjaro experience, and TANAPA notes that Kilimanjaro National Park offers nature walks and other lighter adventure activities in addition to summit climbs.
Depending on the route and pace of the day, the hike gives you a chance to enjoy fresh mountain air, forest scenery, and views of the surrounding landscape. This makes it a very good option for travelers who want to experience the atmosphere of Kilimanjaro without doing the full multi-day trek. The day is active but still accessible for many visitors with a reasonable level of fitness.
Later, you will continue to Materuni, a village area known for its green surroundings, local Chagga culture, and scenic waterfall walk. The walk to the waterfall passes through a lush landscape of farms, small paths, and beautiful views, giving the day a more local and cultural feel in addition to the mountain scenery. After the excursion, you will head to your accommodation in Moshi for dinner and overnight.
Meals: Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast, you will depart for Chemka Hot Springs, also known as Rundugai / Kikuletwa Hot Springs, for a day of relaxation in one of the most attractive natural spots near Moshi. Tanzania tourism sources describe Chemka as an unexpected paradise hidden in the desert scrub outside the town of Boma, and note that it is located about one hour’s drive from Moshi town.
On arrival, you will have time to enjoy the clear, refreshing water and peaceful natural setting. This is the perfect contrast to the more active first day, giving the package a balanced mix of light adventure and relaxation. Many travelers enjoy swimming, resting under the trees, and simply taking in the calm atmosphere of the springs.
Chemka is especially popular as a post-hike or post-safari relaxation stop, and Tanzania tourism content specifically presents it that way. After lunch and time at the springs, you will return to Moshi or Arusha, depending on your onward plan, marking the end of the trip.
