Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Your safari begins with pick-up in Arusha, followed by a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park. This park offers a beautiful introduction to Tanzania’s northern safari circuit, with its wide-open landscapes, giant baobab trees, and excellent wildlife viewing. Tarangire is especially known for its impressive elephant population and peaceful safari atmosphere, making it a rewarding first stop before continuing deeper into the safari circuit.

After arriving at the park, you will begin your first game drive and start exploring the varied landscapes that make Tarangire so attractive. Along the way, you may see elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffaloes, impalas, and several bird species. If luck is on your side, you may also spot predators such as lions resting in the grass or leopards hidden in the trees.

After the game drive, you will continue to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, you will depart for Serengeti National Park. The journey takes you through changing landscapes, from the highlands and open countryside to the endless plains that have made the Serengeti famous around the world. As you enter the park, the scenery opens dramatically, and the feeling of being in one of Africa’s greatest wildlife areas becomes immediate.

You will enjoy a game drive as you make your way toward your camp or lodge in Central Serengeti. This area is an excellent base because it offers strong wildlife viewing year-round and places you within reach of different migration zones depending on the season. The Serengeti is known for its huge concentrations of plains game, rich predator activity, and the world-famous migration of wildebeest and zebra.

By the end of the day, you will already have your first taste of the Serengeti’s scale, wildlife, and natural beauty before settling in for dinner and overnight.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Full Day Serengeti Migration Safari

Today is dedicated to exploring the Serengeti in search of the Great Migration and the many predators that follow the herds. The exact area visited may vary depending on the season and current movement of the animals, which is part of what makes a migration safari so special. In general, the migration moves through the southern plains, western corridor, and northern areas of the Serengeti ecosystem as the herds search for fresh grazing. Official Tanzania tourism information describes this annual movement from the southern breeding grounds through the western corridor and toward the north as one of the defining features of Serengeti.

During your full-day game drive, you may witness long columns of wildebeest and zebra crossing open plains, gathering near water sources, or moving cautiously through predator territory. The migration is not only about the herds themselves but also about the life that surrounds them. Lions, cheetahs, hyenas, and other predators are often nearby, creating dramatic wildlife moments that make the Serengeti one of the most thrilling safari destinations in the world. TANAPA also highlights Serengeti for its outstanding predator-prey interactions and diverse birdlife.

You will enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush and continue exploring the park through the afternoon before returning to your accommodation.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 4: Another Full Day in Serengeti

A second full day in the Serengeti gives you the flexibility that makes a migration safari more rewarding. Wildlife movements are never fixed, and having extra time allows your guide to follow the best possible route based on the season, recent sightings, and conditions in the park. This added day is especially valuable for photography, for travelers hoping to spend more time around the herds, or for anyone who wants a deeper safari experience rather than rushing through the park.

Beyond the migration, the Serengeti remains exceptional for general game viewing. You may encounter elephant herds moving across the plains, giraffes browsing near acacia trees, hippos in pools, and large prides of lions resting after a hunt. The endless landscapes, changing light, and sheer abundance of wildlife create a safari atmosphere that is difficult to match anywhere else in Africa. Official Tanzania tourism and TANAPA both emphasize that Serengeti offers remarkable wildlife viewing even beyond the migration itself.

After another rewarding day in the park, you will return to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, you will enjoy a final morning game drive in the Serengeti as you begin your journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This is still an active safari day, and many travelers enjoy memorable sightings on the way out of the park. The drive gives you one last chance to appreciate the open plains and wildlife-rich scenery before moving into the cooler highlands of Ngorongoro.

As you approach the conservation area, the landscape changes noticeably, with rolling hills and higher elevation creating a different feel from the Serengeti plains. You will arrive at your lodge or camp in time to relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the crater safari on the following day.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

After an early breakfast, you will descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive in one of Tanzania’s most remarkable natural settings. The crater is a UNESCO World Heritage landscape and is widely recognized as one of the best places in Africa to see the Big Five in a compact and dramatic environment. Official Tanzania tourism materials describe Ngorongoro as a natural amphitheatre of wildlife and one of Africa’s strongest Big Five destinations.

Inside the crater, you will explore grasslands, wetlands, and woodland areas that support a remarkable variety of animals. You may see lions, buffaloes, zebras, wildebeests, hyenas, hippos, elephants, and, with luck, the rare black rhino. You will stop for a picnic lunch at a scenic site inside the crater before continuing your game drive.

Later in the day, you will ascend from the crater and drive back to Arusha, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or preferred location, marking the end of your safari.
